Toni – Gray

October 5th, 2004 by Sarah

I seem to have managed to change my template, aren’t I clever. This php/css business is all far too complicated for me. Don’t like it as much as I thought though – chose it because the grey flowers reminded me of my very first blog template, remember that?! Funnily enough the principal of our bible college was called Tony Gray, too, but that’s completely irrelevant. The template will more than likely change again as soon as I have some more time to play, which won’t be for a while!

Anyway, it’s almost time for the cello lesson so I’d better round up the troops …

Hm, doesn’t look very cheerful. Clean though.

I like the style, but yeah, a bit of colour would be nice :) Although I do have a large blank expanse over on the right.

This was the easiest to use and most comprehensive list of colours I found when I was doing mine – http://eies.njit.edu/~kevin/rgb.txt.html

  3. Sarah Says:

well, fiddling with the colours shouldn’t be too difficult. I want another column of linky things on the other side too though, don’t know if I’m clever enough to sort that out.

Umm, Am I being really stupid when I ask, Why? Is it just you fancy something that looks a bit different or is there something more fundamental that I’m missing? Please enlighten me and tempt me to fiddle with my own blog. I know I don’t have the time and I should be doing something else but it’s another reason to use the computer!

  5. Sarah Says:

Clearly, the answer is – well, why not?! I’ll leave someone else to say how wonderful WordPress is … but mainly the reason is just for the fun of it! You should have known that, Stu! ;)

“Because it’s there” – blogging Everest as it were.

BTW you need one of these tags in the head of your old page:

  7. jax Says:

wordpress having cleared up the tag in question, I’ll mail you with it later.

  8. Sarah Says:

    huh? You’ve lost me!

  9. Tim Says:

WordPress strips html tags selectively. Try again:

    <META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0;
    URL=http://tworedboots.co.uk/blog/">

  10. Sarah Says:

oh, penny drops (tell me if it’s the right one) is that a redirect thingy?

  11. Tim Says:

Yep. Best to remove all the body content, that will make it fire a bit quicker. Glad to see you have got the ring code in.

Now all you need are some crayons and you can get the rest of the blog coloured in.

While we are all talking about blogs and WP can someone tell me how I can find out if someone’s blog has been updated with posts or comments so that I can keep up with these conversations as I usually have to physically go to each blog to read them – or can’t that be done?

  13. Sarah Says:

Karen, I use Bloglines (www.bloglines.com) which is free, you simply register, then add the urls of the blogs you want to keep up with, it’s quite easy to use, I think.

  14. jax Says:

This is looking rather organised now – got rid of that big space down the right too!

  15. Steve Says:

Well it looks broken on my PC here (12.40) the links list is hiding right at the bottom after the main text.

  16. Sarah Says:

oh bugger. I’m not happy with it yet, and it seems to look different in the different browsers again, so everyone will just have to be patient! I have other stuff that’s kind of more important to do this afternoon. Steve, what time are you going to be home?

  17. Ruth Says:

Steve, you couldn’t see the links because of the car you were driving earlier. OK, competition time – what did I spot Steve driving this morning???

  18. Karen b Says:

A big bruiser of a car? Grand Espace?

  19. Chris Says:

    How about a 2000 W RENAULT KANGOO 1.4 RN 5 Door MPV

  20. Karen b Says:

Thanks Sarah I will get Steve to sort me out on the bloglines after he has cooked me a lovely stirfry – which he is doing right now. BTW after my disasterous going down of the 2 month old hard drive Steve has put me a new 80 gig one in and new software. I am now using Mozilla (I want to say Mozzerella!!) Firebird instead of Explorer and things do look different on that web browser – OK don’t all shout at once – I have my own personal Computer whizz consultant at home and what I don’t need to know I don’t want to know although he keeps trying to stuff things into my brain about computing all the time!!!

trawling thro your huge number of comments! bloglines.com sounds good. Also love the “filed under general” bit (how do you do that Jax?) Looking forward to lerking … and seeing what you do with those crayons. I’d love a personalized blog template (I keep nipping into Sarah-Ethics Trading and seeing the same template … it’s confusing!) very intregued by the number of comments you get!

  22. Ruth Says:

No, a wee car, Karen. Only 3 doors. Very un-Steve….

  23. Alison Says:

Oh, twenty’s nothing, Sally, you wait till we really get going ;-) Record is 71 on Merry’s blog I’m informed. Though to be honest, we have to all comment a lot on Sarah’s as she is the Blog Queen (well, she is the only one with the T-shirt!) and will get upset if we don’t accord her the honour her status deserves ;-)

Although Chris (4 minutes – blogring hanger-on) did recently ask “What’s the best way of getting a lot of comments on a post?” and got lots of useful replies …… ahem …….

  24. Chris Says:

Hanger-on, my arse. There are only 5 blogs that I read on the ring on a daily basis. The rest is all the work of lunatics as far as I can tell ;-)
