Surely this is topsy turvy?
Steve got up at some unearthly hour this morning because he couldn’t sleep and needed to think stuff through – now anyone who remotely knows Steve will know that this is completely out of character for him, he’s usually in bed till the last possible moment and often requires some help (I’ve got the kids well trained in pulling off duvets, feet tickling, that sort of thing) getting up … and usually if there’s something big to think about it’s me who has insomniac tendencies.
Anyway. We’re taking on a new salesman at work, hence the Big Think. It’s not something we really planned to do quite at this point in time, but an opportunity came up so we’re taking it. And it means that the garage has to do a fair bit better in order to pay for it, so Steve’s trying to work that through, with all its implications. I hope that it turns out to be a good step, and one that will set us up to do even better further down the line, but at the moment it feels like a big risk.
Steve had to leave early anyway this morning, so the rest of us are having a lazy morning … both girls turned their pcs on to play Crypt Raider after seeing the link on Alison’s blog and there has been much IMing between the three of us too – Anna’s typing has really improved, she’s getting quite quick!
Oh, and something I forgot from yesterday … Steve randomly gave out some pocket money, and when he gave Abbie hers, she realised that she’d hit the £5 mark, which she’s been aiming for for ages now. She was so excited she was nearly crying on the way out of the room, it was well worth the £1 Steve had given her just to see her face. Unfortunately we then realised that neither of us had a £5 note which is what she really wanted so I expect we’ll have to pop to the bank today so that she can change her money up. Other plans for the day include paperwork, wringing FF’s necks, and maybe going out to Crealy after lunch …

You can’t keep leaving these cryptic comments about FF and not tell us about them! Why don’t you stick it all in a passworded post (think it’s quite straightforward) and share the password on request? Please?

Oh well, maybe – will give me an excuse to play with the password thing!

Anco’s Energizer is good too

Ooooh, I don’t like the password thing. I think I’m missing out on something I MUST need to know…
November 19th, 2004 at 15:56
but it stops search engines finding rants that Sarah doesn’t want anyone else to know about…
November 19th, 2004 at 16:59
Oh, don’t tease me!! I’m desperate to find out what you are ranting about. Becuase you are normally so serene, that if you are ranting, it MUST be good
November 19th, 2004 at 17:06
So if it is just to stop indexing why not stick the password in these comments?
November 19th, 2004 at 17:09
I’m with Kirsty I feel excluded!
November 19th, 2004 at 17:22
It’s not only to stop indexing, it’s to stop the world at large being able to read it. Although I don’t think I ever quite mentioned exactly what I was ranting about. Joyce, Kirsty, Ros, Jules, I mailed you. Chris, you’ll have to extract it from your lovely wife by whichever means you deem most appropriate

So does A have any shopping plans or just the ownership of a fiver?
November 19th, 2004 at 17:39
Ooo – I don’t want to be left out either, lol! Can I take a peek?
And re the £5 note, I sooo understand. I remember joining forces with my brother to make up £5 so that we could *own* one, albeit together. Can’t remember what we ended up doing with it. I think it got changed back when Mark realised he’d got the raw deal because I persuaded him we should keep it in *my* box. Don’t think I’ve ever felt so flush again.

and me and me…and you too Jax, purlease

Isn’t the risk of employing a salesman rather small compared with the general risk of running the business? Presumably if he doesn’t sell cars he goes, if he does, that’s great ?? Is Steve not keen on giving some responsibility outside the family….
Anyhow don’t you greedy capitalists have to speculate to accumulate….something us public servants don’t have to worry about..
November 19th, 2004 at 23:08
Crickey Chris, I didn’t know you were a public servant. I’m a civil one. Whatever next?
November 19th, 2004 at 23:09
PS. Was up at 0500 yesterday to go to London. In bed 0030 (hotel full – midnight is not a good time to find out) then up to catch 0720 from Kings X. Back home 2130 tonight. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. How’s Steve doingo on the energy levels then?
November 19th, 2004 at 23:10
One more – we have to speculate to accumulate – us civil servants need to make a revenue to survive in our business…
November 20th, 2004 at 0:03
Well, you could tell Chris wasn’t civil ….
Hope you catch up on some sleep this weekend
