Tooth Watch

October 12th, 2005 by Sarah

For ages now we’ve been waiting for Abbie’s other front tooth to grow down, and I’ve been joking with her that she must grow it before bridesmaid duty on 5th November. It has finally cut through, so might just about be visible in three weeks’ time! However, an added complication has arisen – the four teeth (top and bottom either side of the middle two) are now wobbly as well, a couple of them very wobbly!

We’re already the proud owners of a fair few ‘trying to conceal my gap’ smile photos! Over the summer we did try and encourage her just to smile normally and not worry about it, but it didn’t really work. Instead we have either an evil grimace or a soppy look!

So anyway, we’re on full tooth alert here. Corn on the cobs, apples, and anything too crunchy are off the menu, in a vain attempt to keep as many teeth in her mouth as possible! ;)

While we’re talking about the wedding (I think I’m more excited about this one than I was about my own!), I must get on with the tiaras I’m supposed to be making – might go and start while the kids are watching ET for a second time  They loved it!

This morning has been great, we’ve done some music practice, Joe’s done some reading (level 6 of the Flying Boot box, relatively easy for him with only the odd word prompt needed, so that was encouraging), and the girls have both done some maths (geoboard activities) as well as painting and room tidying.

Later on Josiah has a music lesson – at the moment it’s chucking down with rain so if it’s still wet later the girls will end up doing some reading or workbooky stuff in the car with me while he’s there. Hopefully it will have dried up and they can race around the park instead.

edited to add: or some kind person will read my blog then offer to take them off my hands for a couple of hours! Home now cooking lentil curry (definitely not too crunchy!) for tea, wonder how well that will go down?

LOL! gappy smiles are cool :-) I do remember though she isn’t so keen.

Has chucked it down for most of today here so far. We went out to do education and I feel proud of myself :-) Might find a couple of gold stars.

I don’t mind if there are a few gaps lurking around!! I’m just happy that there will BE some photos at the moment (had a bit of a nightmare last night, all sorted now though!)

  3. Merry Says:

Gaps are the thing here ;) Not much point in hiding the current ones when we’ve harboured the other variety for so long anyway! i can’t imagine Fran with a full row of teeth.

  4. Sarah Says:

Mim – um, phew?! I knew you wouldn’t mind the gaps – neither do I, of course, you can’t exactly help them! But you sure as hell would mind the accompanying grimaces when she tries to hide them!

  5. Merry Says:

Giggle… that is so funny. Bless her ;)

No sign of any wobbly teeth at all in this house! C is absolutely desperate to get a bit of wobble as he’s seen all his friends lose plenty of teeth and he’s still stuck with his baby ones.
I think he’s going to follow after me, as I was nine when I lost my first one. But whenever I mention this to him he just groans!

Not sure whether he just wants to have the same gappy grin as everyone else or whether it’s more to do with the money he’s heard appears under pillows ;-)

  7. Sarah Says:

ah well, you can reassure him on that one, no money appears under pillows in this house, because we’re such mean parents …

  8. Ruth Says:

Tooth fairy money was Caitlin’s major (only!) source of income until we decided to start giving them pocket money. I think C was starting to contemplate pulling more out to keep her income going and all I could think was “she’ll be selling a kidney next!”

  9. Roslyn Says:

We have a present leaving tooth fairy! Poor thing had to produce a statue of herself this week….FFS!

  10. lou Says:

B doesnt believe in the tooth fairy, so she gets a box of chocs when her teeth come out – very good for her other teeth – NOT!

  11. Lin Says:

Hope you managed ok for Joe’s lesson, sorry but I read the ‘edit’ bit far too late to offer to help out or would have done. x

  12. Sarah Says:

Lin, that wasn’t a hint! It’s what my friend Ruth did actually do! ;)
