when I read it, my first thought was about £1, which is still the cost that it cost to make the darn thing in the first place, and it’s just that they are ripping people off mightily this year, being as they are still having it made in a sweatshop in China somewhere…

then I thought £18, and I still don’t really understand why £13.50 is the right answer!

That’s not quite how value is calculated though, is it? Be great if it was, my house would be worth nearly a million by now! lol!

Depends how you look at it

first year its worth £4.50, second year its worth £9, added makes £13.50

BUT

Purchase for £4.50, value at end of first year = doubled = £9, value at end of second year = £9 doubled = £18

Question should be more explicit

(I said 18 quid too, but am a sad git who clearly hasnt spent enough time doing maths already this week and just had to see how the heck they got £13.50!)

Another question: Alice bought a new car from Bob for £20000. It has halved in price every year. Why didn’t she go to http://www.theusedcarspecialist.co.uk instead?
