Ooh! I hadn’t seen that! Lovely pics & nice article. Bit controversial re: evidence and funding, but still puts us in a good light IMO

Oh thanks Sarah, I tried to put that link in a comment on Chris’s, but it told me I was banned!
They are definitely better, aren’t they?
Apart from the blurb at the side about “Families in the ‘education otherwise’ programme have to supply government inspectors with evidence that their children are being educated.”!

rofl, I’m following you round the blogosphere now!
Yeah, the blurb at the side was a bit wrong, but the photos themselves seemed much better!

On the other hand, those photos don’t look much like home Ed in my house either!

It might when your children are a bit older though! I like the ones where they’re dossing around doing nothing (5 and 6, I think).

Funny really, these photos would have put me off 4 years ago, i think.

***Much*** better.
When I was first introduced to HE I had this vision of swots being hot-housed at home – with electronic kits on the kitchen table etc – with a view to taking GCSE’s at the age of 3 and have a DPhil by their early teens. That was the sole reason for my initial negative response to it. If I had seen normal kids dossing around I would have felt strangely comforted. I spent most of my childhood doing nothing after all. Whilst the current ‘PR’ isn’t Ruth Lawrence in nature it does over-emphasis the academic nature of HE and a bit of balance about the non-HE is really good.
I think during this summer I am going to do some sort of photo portfolio of what I consider to be a true photographio representation of summer in the life of Portico HEing. I’ll stick on the web as my contribution to publicising HE.
