Fish with a death wish!
A busy yet lovely day here … trying to get sorted out for yet another weekend camping, this time we are off to Greenbelt. I’ve said for the past ten years that we’ll go ‘next year’, and finally we’re going. Really looking forward to it.
Spent most of the morning and lunchtime entertaining Max, Merry and the girls, which was lovely - there was wooden castle roleplay going on in the front room and Serious Animal Crossing going on in the back room
I must get some more princesses for that castle playset though, they are *always* fighting over them, even Josiah! And despite having no less than 6 ACWW towns between us, we didn’t have a good turnip price in any of them, pah!
They left to go to Dartmoor and Moretonhampstead Carnival - we tried to make it out to the carnival too but Steve ended up being late at work so we couldn’t get there in time
Robyn was with us for the last part of the afternoon so we took a trip to the park with her, and then played around at home.
And the day ended with the kids having tea in the kitchen, us sitting in the back room, suddenly Anna shouted “the fish has jumped out of its pot!!” repeatedly and with more urgency, and almost crying! It really had somehow flipped out of the bowl and was lying on top of the fridge! Steve ran into the kitchen to rescue it by which time Josiah was crying as well, but the fish seems unscathed, thank goodness Anna saw him do it! There is now a colander perched on top of the bowl in case of any more escape/suicide attempts ![]()

Well we’re leaving tomorrow so we’ll do them in the morning, then we’re back Monday, so just Saturday and Sunday would be great, thank you

Albert II pulled the same trick here which led to him being found dusty and half dead behind the dirty washing basket and in turn led to his release to the wild of my Dad’s pond where he and Fred were replaced by Fred II and Albert III. You need a tank with a lid

Sarah, are these people the ones who left your door open…..and you’re asking them again.
Greenbelt - if it wasn’t a load of unethical christians I suspect it would tempt me, well in fact Bill Drummond alone would tempt me to go. Have a great time…..we’re going to listen to the Kaiser Chiefs in the back garden as this weekend is Reading Festival..

Which of those puts you off the most?!
August 24th, 2006 at 20:53
To be honest…..the two seem (in my experience) to go hand-in-hand and it’s the contradiction that gets to me

Well I’ve never been so I’m not going to comment on Greenbelt yet … they say on the website that they only have fair trade food stands there, and no plastic etc., so as an organisation they seem to be making a good effort in the right direction.

Yep Chris. Sarah is leaving her life (or at least her house) in our hands again. You’ve got to credit that woman’s courage haven’t you?!

Isn’t it at Cheltenham? The home of the highest rate of horse-deaths in racing. So lining the pockets of horse-killers, ethical my arse……see, I can find fault in anything. It’s a gift I tell you.

August 24th, 2006 at 21:12
….which you are already a member of!!!!!
August 24th, 2006 at 21:12
Made me wonder if it is a festival for white christians only.

Sarah - don’t forget to look out for Joe. Do you want his mobile number?

Have a great time! I hope the weather’s good for you - or that said isn’t greenbelt all about camping in a swamp - that’s what I seem to remember my teenage friends doing (it was never my scene - I never went)!
As regards the fish - it could be worse - my childhood fish fried itself on the radiator when it jumped from its tank!

A skill indeed Chris
