I am officially scared of swans!
Forgot to actually blog anything interesting yesterday, in all my excitement about new themes and tag clouds! We were at home mostly, Josiah did loads of MEP maths and some phonics workbook pages (way too easy but it got him writing so I didn’t mind) as well as violin as usual.
In the afternoon we took Robyn and Joe down to the Quay, Steve was around and wanted to try out his latest camera ( no comments please) so we thought that might be a good place to go. Josiah brought bread to feed the ducks but as it turned out there were only Huge Killer Swans or Flappy Seagulls. Neither of which are particularly pleasant! I think swans are beautiful, but when they’re standing right next to me I am petrified of them (I’d forgotten quite how scared, actually
). The seagulls were so greedy they would practically swoop down on to you to grab bread from your hand! So we chucked bread at lightning speed and went to the park instead.
Steve and I were sort of having a competition to see who could come back with the best photos – I had the old camera and he had the new one. I think I won, although annoyingly this morning he had more views and comments on his pictures than I did, so now I’m blogging mine because I expect that will tip the balance

I hate swans too! I used to get paranoid about them when I used to canoe and Riona has been pecked by one before. I also hate cows too but that’s another story!

Hugely impressed that science is the biggest in your tag cloud!
Swans? Just big ducks, really, aren’t they?

Don’t worry, C and I have done all our eye-rolling and commenting (and laughing hysterically!) in private
Swans *are* scary – I remember once there was one standing on the footpath that goes north up by the canal from Hythe Bridge Street, and this huge group of people loitering, all too scared to try to walk past it (and there’s water very close on either side, so going round wasn’t appealing either). Had to walk away quickly once when feeding them bits of my sandwich by Port Meadow, and they got out of the water and started coming after us once the sandwiches were gone!
Joe’s fine – so far they have played Hot Wheels, he’s played a Dr Seuess game with Buttercup on the pc, and now he and Ernest are playing on a different pc. C and Steve left about an hour ago.
Right, off to look at your photos ….

Ah Port Meadow. We used to have church baptisms by the river there and before we went down there would always be a sweepstake on how many children would step in cow pats and which children it would be …
Glad to hear Joe’s not being too much trouble

He’s been NO trouble at all
They’re now watching Home Alone 3 and eating popcorn and strawberry laces
Josiah is still wearing the fleece hat he borrowed to go out in! He wants to leave before dinner as I’m cooking curry

I think this must stem from experiences near the lake in Le Vesinet. You know what the only answer is – Darth Vader flip flops!

rofl, Mark, I did tell Steve about that incident
He proceeded to completely laugh at me by citing a number of cases in which his family members had been mutilated by swans …
I’d forgotten about the flip-flops though!
