Veggie Magic

November 16th, 2006 by Sarah

I have discovered that Robyn likes Veggie Tales – she’s sat mesmerised in front of it for 20 minutes – which she wouldn’t do for *anything* else!

This is good, as we spent the day at Crealy, so we’re knackered (possibly the other reason Robyn’s sitting still!). Met loads of friends out there – completely by chance, so that made it even better than usual.

The girls are trying to sort out last minute pirate costumes for tomorrow, it’s ‘dress up as a pirate’ day for Children in Need … any suggestions for piratey attire? I’m pretty rubbish at being creative … and probably don’t have any even remotely piratey things to help … give me ideas, please?!

Striped tights, any sort of waistcoats, short-sleeved shirt with the collar up, handkerchiefs (you can use these anywhere!), trousers that don’t go the whole way down the leg, buckled shoes, hoop earrings and messy hair. I’ve never had to do this in my life, obviously!
Hope some of those are helpful xx

So just go as you are, Sarah. :-)

    (Caitlin here)

I’m wearing a blouse, some jeans rolled up to three quarter length, a scarf (tied around the waist), boots and a handkerchief folded in half(so it makes a triangle)and tied around the head(tied so its a bit like a bandanna with a triangle top)

eye patch, stuffed parrot on shoulder, bandana, ragged trousers?

    Joe’s Captain Hook outfit?

old coat hanger stuffed into a long sleeve as a hook hand?

Just wing it and say ‘arrr!’ a lot!

headscarf, cut-off (or rolled-up) trousers, waistcoat and stripey t-shirt if you’ve got one. Toy parrot, if you’ve got one. A very effective cutlass can be made by covering two cutlass-shaped bits of card with tinfoil and then pasting them wrong-sides together. Chocolate coins would make good “pieces of eight”…

Argh on Veggie Tales; I can’t stand it!

Amazingly, I have a photo of me dressed as a pirate from when I was about 5/6, that Sissel sent me. Paper hat with Skull and cross bones, and a tiny parrot (one of those things with the sticky feet) on my shoulder! will attempt to scan it and send it to you, its quite funny!
