Clip Clops
I am still smarting from the gross injustice of the last two nights’ wakefulness – I saw my friend Becca today, whose baby is 7 weeks old, and she’s slept more than me over the past couple of days! The first night it was Josiah who came up for something, went back down to bed and then we couldn’t sleep for hours afterwards, and last night a massive storm woke me up. It finished after an hour or so, and as I was just drifting back to sleep at 4.30am, Robyn woke up and wailed for half an hour. I contemplated getting up, but just as I did she stopped wailing ‘mummy’ and started wailing ‘joe joe’, at which point I figured that if she just wanted someone to play with, it was best to ignore her! Sure enough she eventually went back to sleep until around 7ish but Steve had to get up at 5.45 to leave early, so I didn’t exactly manage more than an hour of sleep after that
So after sending the pirate girls on their way, we had a rather shaky start … I think I eventually yelled at Robyn and Josiah who were taking it in turns to wail about one thing or another, and they were both shocked into silence! Thankfully it got better from there …
We pulled the morning back together with Becca’s help, as we went on a fairly hilarious wild goose chase to find a toddlers’ play area up at the racecourse. As we drove in, all the wardens were telling us where it was, but as we approached it it looked distinctly dark and no signs of life anywhere. Asked in the ticket office and a man told us it was normally open … walked over and asked at the racecourse information centre and they said ‘oh yes, it should be open now, I’m sure the lady is on her way’, so we waited … and waited … and eventually decided to find some info about it and come back again another time. On asking someone else for regular opening times, we found out that it had been closed for *three years*!!! Thankfully it was just quite funny by that time, despite the pouring rain! We came home for lunch instead – after a short diversion via Haldon Forest Park, which is where we’d originally wanted to go before it started raining!
Joe’s done some workbook maths, and then we started a science kit to do with eggs – actually not that much *about* eggs but more experiments you can perform *using* eggs – lots of fun, anyway. Anna went to a friend’s house for tea and Abbie had a friend back here, they fimo-ed, and Robyn and I made chocolate fairy cakes. Tea, baths, and bed, and I wish I was going to bed too but instead we’re out for dinner for a ‘relatively decent month at the garage’ meal. So I really ought to be getting ready, not blogging …
