New shelves

November 10th, 2007 by Sarah

These may look inefficient, but they are vastly more efficient than what we had before (one small bookcase behind the sofa, this is the only picture I can find with it in). They’re twice the depth and three times the width, so they had to be, really ;) They’ve also freed up the bookcase that was there before to go upstairs. And I’ve got rid of that horrid metal unit at last!!

The spaces are there on purpose, I’d like to put something nice in them, although as usual we can’t agree on what would be nice (remember the dried flowers in the fireplace? Put there just to fill some space until we could decide on something better – they are still there!). So, any ideas?

What sort of frames – colour? or wood? or would that be too much wood? We nearly got some the other day and then couldn’t decide! Detect a pattern here?

I hate digital ones- we got one but took it away again.

As Helen says, the frames don’t have to match, in fact they shouldn’t for good design!

Bottles. It would be malt whisky were they our shelves. Although we’d have to cull a few as I’ve just done a count and we are currently running at 53 bottles. In fact, I reckon I could take a couple out and wrap them up for Chrimbo and he wouldn’t realise.

Also have 5 bottles of port. Different vintages and brands.
