Started the day with pressies, as you do on a birthday ![]()
Then because Abbie was given a pancake making set we had to have pancakes for breakfast!
After that we loaded up the car with all sorts for the day ahead and set off for the Picture House, which is a nice small cinema with a bar area upstairs. We’ve intended to have a party there for a number of years and I’ve always been too disorganised and not booked it in time, but this year (a) I did get organised and (b) we were lucky enough to be able to have it actually on Abbie’s birthday. The girls had invited 3 friends each, and Joe had a friend there too, to keep him company amidst the girliness.
I must say it’s probably the best party we’ve ever had, the kids enjoyed it, there was no stress, no mess, and I thought it was great value for money, too! They did a few games, then had some food, and then the film – prizes, food, and popcorn provided; and the girls got to start the film in the projection room too. The film itself was average but perfectly entertaining!
After we’d said goodbye to all the friends we booked tickets for Christmas Eve, paying just for one extra as we’ll be using the tickets Abbie won, so that’s another treat to look forward to. Then we headed straight out to another Suzuki group practice for the Christmas busking next week, and that took all afternoon – all 3 kids played well on their respective instruments – now we just have to get Josiah over the hurdle of the actual event, but that’s next week’s challenge!
Finally got home for lasagne and Ben & Jerry’s (Abbie’s current faves) and then the girls have been relaxing with painting and beading before/during the X Factor – Joe’s playing playstation. We’ve all had a lovely day, and if Same Difference could win the X Factor tonight we’d be super happy. We might even vote, being as it’s a special occasion

Looks like a fun party! Just curious- why does your daughter have her coat on to open gifts?
