February half term in pictures
And a few words too, I suspect
Monday was a very lazy day; we didn’t do much at all. A trip to the park and a lot of kicking around the house, playing with lego, making paper aeroplanes, all accompanied by a lot of loud singing. I am so sick of hearing the soundtrack to High School Musical 2!
Tuesday was less lazy but still nice and relaxed. The kids all had a piano lesson in the morning, and alternated that with playing mindjolt games on the computer, chatting, and looking at cookery books. After piano we went to Sainsbury’s, then in the afternoon Anna had a cello lesson, and we got started on our baking for taking away next week. Of course some of the day’s baking probably won’t make it as far as Melrose …
Wednesday was lovely. I picked the girls up from their sleepover (the night in the tent was successful!) and we dropped Joe to play with a friend during the morning, while we went into town, hunting for various uniform trousers – grey for school and black for orchestra. Home for lunch, then out to an RSPB Roadshow in the afternoon, which was entertaining enough. My family turned up at teatime and we all went out to the Chinese down the road for dinner, which was lovely. The meal was meant to be a ‘thank you’ for the work we’d done at their student house, but they surprised us with a theatre token as well, so we felt well and truly thanked. Anna mistakenly asked ‘what are we going to see, Mum?’, and I made her repeat the question until she finally used the correct pronoun
Actually can’t decide what to see!
On Thursday we mooched around at home, doing music practices and cleaning bedrooms. Picked up Steve and popped into town to take Josiah to have his hair cut, do a bit of shopping, and have lunch – all lovely. Abbie found herself a very trendy (also very pink and sparkly!) pair of pumps for a fiver
Came home and picked up a friend of Anna’s to come and stay the night, then we faffed around at home doing a bit more baking/cooking before dinner and a film.
Today has been another moochy day, just mucking around doing yet more cooking, the children have amused themselves with Wii and trips to the park, not to mention music practices and general jamming, exploring some new music software and then trying to get to grips with GarageBand (need to wait for Steve to come home!). Highlight of Josiah’s day was opening Settlers of Catan – that boy just loves board games ![]()

I LOVE Settlers. And I’m sure you know you can get extension kits

I’m hoping someone will show Ernest how to play Settlers
I am so not a board game aficionado, and he would play games all day!

Yeah, we’ll show him. Although I must confess to being frustrated by playing with the children (done it twice today), it makes the whole game take twice as long, I’m sure of it. I’m hoping for some grown up games too …
