One of a kind!

January 11th, 2009 by Sarah

Anna had her birthday treat today; a scrapbooking workshop with a local HEing friend of mine. She had a friend to sleep over last night (watched Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging again – had to laugh at myself laughing at all the parents’ lines) and today they amused themselves with various crafts in the morning while Abbie, Joe and I were at church. They made pizzas for lunch, and then I took them over to my friend’s. This friend is a serious scrapper, she does the sorts of things that I could never imagine, or even if I do imagine them I could never actually manage to produce them! Every time we go over there I see Anna drooling over the bits and bobs that she uses, and dying to have a go herself, so this was the perfect grown up birthday treat.

The girls went over at 1pm, each with a set of photos on a theme, and by 5pm when I picked them up they had each produced a mini-scrapbook that ties up with a ribbon. Difficult to photograph, but here are a few pages from Anna’s (actually there are some better photos on my friend’s mainly scrapping blog!).

There was also a page with Abbie and Joe on it, with a button saying ‘things that drive me crazy!’ but she had also written a caption about them still being nice or something. And then a most amusing page where she’d cut out Steve’s face and plonked it on top of the bottom half of herself in her prom dress, making him look strangely cross-dressed, with the caption ‘things you didn’t know!’ and ‘oops!’ on it. Where she gets her sense of humour I don’t know!

Anyway, they had a fabulous afternoon and each came away with a lovely memento. We even managed to find a pretty box here that is the perfect size to keep it in :)

Meanwhile, Abbie went over to her friend’s house and helped clean out some pet mice, and we had my friend’s 6yo here to play with Joe. Decided that small boys would benefit from the fresh air (not to mention the fact that I’m close to catching another friend’s cache count) so dragged them out for a walk and cache hunt. It was blowy but nice to get out.

Once home we baked and played, and time disappeared very quickly indeed. Swapped children back and then it was time for tea, tidying up, and a relatively early night.

Think being shoved up a tree by Steve was the highlight of Oliver’s day! Thanks for tiring him out! Anna was a pleasure to entertain. xx
