Oh, I remember this!

June 5th, 2009 by Sarah

Josiah got the Wii Play Control version of DK Jungle Beat today, as a reward for his 100 days of practice. Currently sitting here wetting myself laughing at him playing it, it seems to have ported well onto the controllers and you now really ‘hit’ the enemies. Obviously quite intuitive as he’s picked it up quickly – not quite the same as the novelty of using the bongos, but it’s still a fab little game. Has Ernest Portico still got my GC version? I can’t find it. It’s one of the only games I have ever completed (in Feb ’05, so my blog tells me (and there’s a grand example of a long comments thread!)) so I’m feeling all nostalgic and enjoying watching it over again, anyway.

Otherwise, just an average week, but with added baby news from one of my good friends, so we got to have a cuddle tonight, which made my day :)

Meeting Hannah ooh, she has eyes!

Having a very late (for us) curry for dinner, then going to watch a film, if we can stay awake. Weekend is busy but I might get round to blogging again if I’m lucky.
p.s. I’m doing an experiment; only using blog not BK for a while, just to see what happens in this micro-blogging era …

What an excellent experiment, will look forward with interest to your findings :)

    Lovely baby.

  2. Sarah Says:

Well of course I will still have to use BK if only to keep up with other people, but I mean not posting there myself, if I can remember not to!

Babies are quite cute generally :) Only seems a moment ago that this one’s big brother was born, and now he’s a hulking great BOY!

  3. Ruth Says:

    What’s BK?

  4. Sarah Says:

Brightkite, another micro blogging site similar to Twitter.

  5. Ruth Says:

I am sooooooooooo behind with this! I haven’t even got as far as Twitter ;-)

  6. Michelle Says:

I love cuddling babes. Until they start squawking anyway then I’m happy to hand them back.

Is this an experiment to see if comment threads extend in a non BK world? I wouldn’t be here so soon had it not been for the BK comments with jax.

    and

    I think

    you have to

  10. Michelle Says:

    avoid BK completely.

  11. Michelle Says:

    :-) xx

  12. Michelle Says:

(because then you’ll be more diven to comment on other people’s blogs and hence increase overall blogtraffic that way, as people will then want to comment on yours in return).

  13. Michelle Says:

    driven. Gah!

  14. Sarah Says:

lol, Michelle! But I can’t comment on other people’s blogs if they’re not blogging! Of course, you are, so I’ll make sure I come by and comment on yours ;)

  15. Ruth Says:

It’s worlds within worlds isn’t it? We all communicate the way we want to be communicated with. I’m a text queen but hate the phone and use PCs as and when (certainly not a daily blogger). I’ve gone off facebook too. I hate the thought that I’m addicted to something but, I must confess, if you dare take my mobile away………..! ;-)

  16. Sarah Says:

Yeah, but our blogging and commenting habits have changed since the twitter/brightkite era, I’m just wondering what changes I might see if I stop using them. All things feed to facebook now anyway, and I still like fb despite it’s annoying quizzes and games! I am rather attached to my phone these days but only because it goes online, not because of texts or actual phonecalls. Still love my blog too though.

  17. Ruth Says:

    You’ll have to give me a twitter/BK new-era lesson on Sunday ;-)

  18. Merry Says:

Oooh… tempting :) I mis tiny announcements on blogs; used to like it :)

  19. Roslyn Says:

well I’ve left BK so maybe I should restart blogging!

  20. Sarah Says:

Yes you should (why did you leave BK though?). And get yourself a gravatar too now that my template supports it!

  21. Jax Says:

I think there’s a place for things like BK/ twitter, or at least was when they sent updates to mobile phones :( They were very useful for coordinating ourselves as a group while out and about. Now though, I’m not so sure, and I don’t like the fact that they are ephemeral – I blog partly as a record of day to day life, and comments on it are part of that.

Will consider severely limiting my BKing too, although am thinking about repurposing twitter in relation to other blogging pursuits.

  22. Michelle Says:

I wouldn’t post invites to events on blog but would to BK.

  23. Sarah Says:

Ah but that’s because your BK is private, right? Mine isn’t. I’d email!

I still like BK and twitter, I have phone apps for them which makes them far easier to check ‘on the go’ than blogs or websites.

  24. Michelle Says:

yep. my BK is private and obviously I have the phone app.
