Some things I should not have done

June 24th, 2009 by Sarah

I should not have agreed to accompany the children’s choir next week. I think, no matter which key I transpose the music into, that I can’t play it. And this, dear children, is why you must not give up your music lessons!

I should not have taken my son to the Music Showcase at school tonight. This is where all the peripatetic teachers show their instruments etc. and tell all the eager children and their parents how wonderful learning their particular instrument can be. The minute the brass teacher played a note Joe was jigging up and down next to us whispering to us.
He now wants to play the French Horn  I really am not sure this is a good idea. We simply do not have enough time or space for all the blimming practicing! I remember a day not so long ago when he was that excited about learning the ‘liovin’ as he called it then, and that has not been an easy ride!

I should not have encouraged Anna to play for the local panto society’s Summer Review. Now she is auditioning for the pantomime itself and thinking about offering my services to play the piano. See first paragraph above. This is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

I should not have woken up at 4am today. It’s the third or fourth morning that I’ve woken up stupidly early this week and I’m exhausted.

And finally, I should not have bought crisps and cakes that I like at Sainsbury’s on Monday. I have no self control.

aw… erm, can you simplify the accompaniment?

Ah. I have some sympathies with this, to say the least! Good luck! (Love you blogging again :) )

Oh dear! Sounds like there’s a lot on. You’re just far too nice to your kids! ;-)

lol at your dilemmas! Hope the cake helps you mull them over!

Sarah, if the crisps and cake lasted past Monday night, let alone Tuesday, then that’s surely a good thing ;-)

well I suppose so! and I’ve managed to sleep until 4.45am today so that’s better too, right?!

I am doing the waking up ridiculously early with a start thing, thinking I’ve overslept (hah, what for?) then dozing on and off til actual getting up time too. Which has been wiping me out. So last night I went to bed at 10, crocheted til 10.30, lights off, and although I woke up at 3, 5.16 and 6, I was relatively OK with getting up at 7.30.

Doesn’t leave much time for game playing though ;)

I tend to wake at 4, play stupid games for an hour, then go back to sleep if I can, that seems to work. I’ve gone cold turkey on Animal Crossing since we were away last and haven’t managed to get into anything else yet!

Have extricated myself from accompaniments other than the one for my own children (don’t care so much if I cock that one up, plus we have more time available to practice together).

Feel slightly happier having done that.

ha ha this is a funny post – go ON play the piano, you underestimate yourself Mrs C. I would seriously love to come and watch Anna in panto & see you tinkling the ivories!
