Bit of a mad day …

July 20th, 2009 by Sarah

Didn’t want to get up, eventually had to. Realised that my only suitable shoes for work were the canvas trainers I’d had on yesterday, still soaking wet, so went to Sainsbury’s before breakfast for another pair (exactly the same but in purple rather than black). That’s the good thing about buying cheap shoes in Sainsbury’s!

Kids were delivered home and caused chaos dumping their stuff everywhere, but we all got off to work on time (helps so much to have a free evening and leave music practice until after school).

This morning I had an interview for a higher level teaching assistant job at my school – it must have gone ok as by lunchtime I’d heard that I’ve got one of the two posts available. There were only three interviewees though! Still, pleased – if a bit nervous about starting as it’s all a bit unknown, we’re the first two HLTAs in a school with about 50 TAs so it could be interesting. Starts from September.

The rest of the day passed in a bit of a daze, with wakeup call from the fire alarm at the end of the afternoon. Always good to throw a last minute fire drill at everyone before the end of term ;) Actually apparently the plumber set the alarm off somehow!

Home and enjoying kicking around with the kids; we have jobs to do but we’re getting there with a fair bit of messing around along the way. They are trying to persuade me to celebrate by taking them out for a Chinese!

Well done Sarah! I hope you are going to celebrate in some way. You cecrtainly deserve to.

  2. Jax Says:

I think celebrations are indeed in order, congratulations!

  3. Merry Says:

Congrats from here too – what will it actually mean? More responsibility for managing or doing higher level medical stuff, or what?

  4. Sarah Says:

no, basically just doing cover when teachers are away or on their planning time etc.

  5. Mim Says:

    Congratulations Sarah!

  6. Roslyn Says:

well done! hope you had that chinese and a glass ot two xxxx

  7. Sarah Says:

Nope. Kids started arguing so I went up to see what they were doing. Then saw their rooms and lost my rag. Can’t be bothered to take them out when they behave like that. Steve’s away anyway. So I cooked and we’re all having an early night as that’s probably better all round.

  8. Michelle Says:

    Congratulations!

Oh well done Sar – not that I was too worried that you wouldn’t get it :) Hope that the chopping and changing nature of it doesn’t detract too much from the fun of officially being able to tell people what to do ;-)

And I love that you can go for an interview wearing purple canvas trainers!

  10. Sarah Says:

lol! I quite liked the fact that they already knew me and what I wear every day so there was no point powerdressing to impress them!

  11. Joyce Says:

See, knew you would be brilliant. They are lucky to have you. Congratulations :-)

Enough of your good news, what about Anna’s Grade 5 distinction – or have I skimmed that?

  13. Sarah Says:

Hm yes, was waiting to hear what Joe gets for his music exam before blogging! She had it on her fb status yesterday. Her 2nd grade 5 score of exactly 130, not quite worth mentioning as she didn’t beat Helen’s 145 which was her goal!
