Busy days … also need an early night soon!
In Portico style-ee
Wednesday:
6am – drag self out of bed
6.20am – drag Josiah out of bed
6.30am – both of us drag Steve out of bed
6.45ish – breakfast for the three of us
7am – encourage piano practice for Joe (am taking the ’15mins and I’m happy’ approach atm!)
7.15am – facilitate violin practice for Joe, call up to make sure girls are getting up.
7.40am – girls having breakfast, Joe and Steve rounding up games kit, finding lost toothbrush, etc
7.45am – Steve and Josiah leave, and I get to breathe for 15 minutes.
8am – start telling Anna that I will leave without her if she’s not ready by 8.15 … meanwhile listen to Abbie’s piano and flute practice. Make packed lunches for the three of us.
8.15am – try to leave, realise that Anna is nowhere near ready, yell at her a bit!
8.30am – finally leave (this is a bit late really). Abbie is the poor little latchkey kid who locks up before leaving for school herself and is usually the first one home too!
Then comes the gap when we are all at work and school doing our own things – on the go the whole time though! Yesterday I even brought some children from my school back to our house! It is easy walking distance and they were due a reward for helping during the morning, so we took them out for a walk and it was a free destination. I’d temporarily forgotten about the music room when I hatched the plan, but one of them is music-mad and LOVED our music room, so I was really pleased about that.
Anyway.
3.35pm – finish work and drive round to pick up Anna and the bassoon which she had to leave at school yesterday as no-one could pick her/it up at the right time.
3.45pm – home and relieved that Steve has remembered to get home in time to take Anna to G5 theory exam
4pm – wave them off then tidy the house up from the debris left behind from the school visitors!
4.15pm – Josiah delivered home by a friend. Chat to him and help him through snack and homework.
4.30pm – Abbie home from school and choir. Chat to her and run through tea-cooking instructions with her as on Wednesdays she’s in charge of cooking dinner!
5pm – leave for Joe’s violin lesson
5.30 – 6.15pm violin lesson – had to extricate ourselves quickly as the teens who come after us were also in their G5 theory exam so not there at all and our teacher *always* over-runs if no-one arrives to remind him of the time!
6.30pm scoop Anna up from her exam and go home, where Abbie has finished tea and left for panto rehearsals already, so
6.45pm the rest of us eat slightly cold convenience food. Not our best moment ![]()
7.10pm Anna and I leave, I drop her at panto rehearsal and head out to my church small group.
7.30pm Cup of Tea at small group – and a good evening, as enjoying what we’re doing at the moment.
9.50pm realise that I should have left 5 minutes ago and race back to panto rehearsals to pick up girls by 10pm – made it by 10.03 …
10.08pm home
10.15pm in bed watching programme from last night about families with disabled children, because Steve moaned that I shouldn’t immediately go on the computer. He fell asleep, so then I picked the computer up and replied to a few emails and caught up a little.
12.30am sleep time.
Another similar day is planned today. It’s scary busy! And now I’m late for the first two steps so I must get up!

Phew!
Sounds like what I managed to pack in this Tuesday (including church group for me too) and I thought was a busy day. Except I missed out the middle bit involving school.
Scary busy sounds right!
Hope the exam went OK.

Very busy! Glad you are managing to fit the church group in for yourself.

School often feels like the calm bit in my day, believe it or not!
November 12th, 2009 at 8:42
Now you’re just making me look like a wimp
November 12th, 2009 at 9:20
Lol, not intentional! You’re just more sensible

See you’ve already been up for about 3 hours before I even start my day. And as for practising two musical instruments before it’s even properly daylight….
Respect!

Good gracious! I will never complain again!

Breakfast at 0645? Goodness me – I can’t eat for ages after waking up (and I’m not even awake at that time
)

Blimey- your practice regime really puts us to shame! Joe has now overtaken Pip, lol, although her brag at the moment is that she’s just returned from Australia where she had her graduation concert … in the Opera House!
We’ve never consistently cracked the before school practice- in winter it feels too cold (no heating) and we lie in as late as possible, in summer we’re up around 6 but tend to be slack still and the morning disappears :-/
Must try harder!
PMSL at the money thing- we run similar schemes here in similar times of angst … not so much nurtured by love as CASH, lol!
