Oh, I remember this!

Josiah got the Wii Play Control version of DK Jungle Beat today, as a reward for his 100 days of practice. Currently sitting here wetting myself laughing at him playing it, it seems to have ported well onto the controllers and you now really ‘hit’ the enemies. Obviously quite intuitive as he’s picked it up quickly – not quite the same as the novelty of using the bongos, but it’s still a fab little game. Has Ernest Portico still got my GC version? I can’t find it. It’s one of the only games I have ever completed (in Feb ’05, so my blog tells me (and there’s a grand example of a long comments thread!)) so I’m feeling all nostalgic and enjoying watching it over again, anyway.

Otherwise, just an average week, but with added baby news from one of my good friends, so we got to have a cuddle tonight, which made my day :)

Meeting Hannah ooh, she has eyes!

Having a very late (for us) curry for dinner, then going to watch a film, if we can stay awake. Weekend is busy but I might get round to blogging again if I’m lucky.
p.s. I’m doing an experiment; only using blog not BK for a while, just to see what happens in this micro-blogging era …

Window Shopping

Friday, October 24th, 2003

*thinks* … if we pop into town a bit early today we could do some window shopping together, the girls could show me things they like, then one day I’ll go back into town on my own and buy them an outfit each for Christmas … *stops thinking*

I have today learned that it is virtually impossible to expect my girls to window shop. I find it hard myself, so it was slightly optimistic to expect the three of us to manage it. We held out through H&M, and Monsoon Kids, but when we got to Gap and found some gorgeous soft cord jeans (with little butterflies on) in the sale, we were all overcome, the temptation was too much for us. The girls happily walked out of the shop each clutching new jeans and a hoody to go with them, in slightly different colourways. But hey ho, the outfits were a bargain, I saved a whole stack of money on the full price!! Plus, it’s usually okay doing that sort of thing in Gap, because Steve used to work there so he doesn’t seem to mind so much, for some reason!

Anyway, we managed not to go into any shoe shops as well, although some trendy winter boots are next on our wish list. These are the ones Anna really wants – but will have to wait till next month for:

And all that was before even getting to the museum. The Mummy workshop was really good, the children all got to take part acting out the different roles involved in the making of a mummy – Anna got to be the ‘ripper outer’, in other words she was the one pretending to pull the innards out of this poor person lying on the table. She enjoyed herself! And I think it probably all went in, so tick the Egyptians, for a while at least!

We also had a little trip out this afternoon to see a friend and her new baby (he is GORGEOUS!), which was lovely. I am so broody!! Picked up Joe from the childminders, then went home to see if Steve had finished ripping up carpets and floorboards to find the heating leak. Apparently he now thinks there isn’t a leak, and it must have been coming from somewhere else. Time will tell!! Then we went to look at a house, as we’re toying with the idea of getting somewhere bigger, but it’s a way off yet … will have to wait and see.

Nephew the First

Finally my brother has sent me a proper photo of baby Caleb, so here it is:

Caleb Ieuan Elliott Thomas … we are wondering if Mark is trying to make up for his lack of middle name here?! Anyway, he’s pretty cute. The girls are thrilled to have a cousin (he’s their first!) and we’re all looking forward to meeting him soon.

have a busy few days ahead – today we have a Magic Show with Pete McCahon at our church meeting, then we have some friends coming to stay for a few days so I might be able to resist the computer’s magnetic qualities – I’ll be too busy. I did get some cleaning done yesterday, not that you could tell.
