The photo’s for my friend Ruth, who is more impressed by trigpoints than by geocaches, and since most of today’s caches were fairly boring, actually so was I.

This was actually the third trigpoint that we saw today but the only one I bothered to get the camera out for. I was out with Kris again, who also found his two thousandth cache. Now that *is* ridiculous, being as I introduced him to caching only a couple of years ago. We celebrated with a hot chocolate then came home for a curry.

At home today Steve had been at work, while the children had cleaned out the guinea pigs and packed bags for Mill on the Brue. I checked them and scrawled initials on with biro – hope that’s enough for ‘clearly labelled’. Yesterday Anna left for Romania, so we’re about to have a week with no children … looking forward to it! Although we have still got Suzie here and she’s nearly as much trouble …

Er, yes. Did I ever say I have slight OCD? This week I have been catching up with my Angry Birds obsession; I hadn’t completed the original game since the last update, and they’ve brought out a new game which is Halloween themed.

So, first of all I worked on completing the first game – all done, three stars on each level. I confess I haven’t got all the awards for score but there is a limit, even for me

Then, given that my Pocket Frogs are taking hours and hours to hatch now that I’m on the higher levels, I got going onto the Halloween game. Some of the original game’s updates had been rather tame and easy to complete, and I was worried that the Halloween game would be the same, but no, it was back to the original very challenging levels that were in the first few levels of the first game

I HAD to get it done before the end of the week, otherwise it would have been bugging me for ages! All done

I have read a couple of books, too … but they weren’t quite as exciting

Actually I’m pretty annoyed about this blog post really … my favourite cache stats site has closed ( It’s Not About The Numbers – what a shame, it was the best one), and I’ve been waiting to blog until a bug with My Geocaching Profile was fixed, which it almost is now … then looked back at my third caching post and it seems that my profile there has automatically updated, meaning that I don’t have pictures of the maps etc. as they were back in May at just over 500 finds, instead they’re as they should be now at 680 finds (sort of). Poo to not realising that would happen back then (which it does say on the site), otherwise I would have done it like this:

Anyway, never mind, I know it’s only really me who’s bothered about stuff like this! I *am* pleased to have that giant country shaded in on the map, just from finding one cache in Russia!

My penultimate weekend of the holidays was spent caching; my friend and I were rather proud of ourselves managing 109 in one day, a figure of 8 walk of around 20 miles, mostly in the pouring rain as well. We did 30-odd the day before, and 28 the day after, as well. We had been going to camp up in North Devon but in the end because of the weather we decided to camp at home instead, so that we could dry our clothes/boots and charge batteries overnight!

The girls had time with friends over the weekend which was great for them, Josiah came with us on Sunday, and Steve had some peace and quiet!

All I can say, having done that, is that it might have bumped my total caches found number up significantly, and it was fun to have the marathon challenge, but I can hardly remember any one individual cache. I would far prefer to spend the time and energy on one decent cache(password available on request) than on 150 pots behind posts. I can safely say that the graph won’t carry on going upwards at such an almost-exponential rate, as I won’t be carrying on like that throughout this academic year!

Since then we’ve just been bumbling around at home; I’ve been working every morning on school stuff and a little bit of orchestra as well, and the children have been generally annoying me. We hoped to have some ‘family afternoons’ but Steve hasn’t made it home before 5pm any day so far, so never mind about that! Evenings have been spent sewing nametapes onto school clothes in the vain hope that if they’re named they might not go missing so often

I may do these at irregular intervals when I am very bored and probably ought to be doing something else, like updating the orchestra website or something. Here’s an update on the last geeky caching post that I wrote about six months ago. Easier to view pictures big on flickr if you’re actually interested, otherwise you can get a vague idea from the filled in counties on the uk maps, say ‘yes dear, that’s nice’, and flick on to the next blog

First here are last year’s graphs:

And now today’s:

Adding in the little graph that shows difficulty and terrain, as I am particularly proud of the 5/5 that we did last year!

I started being annoyed at 5am this morning when Josiah woke up and started music practice – normally I’d be really pleased with him for just getting up and getting on with it, but not at 5am! He hadn’t realised the time until he went downstairs for breakfast afterwards and looked at the kitchen clock. Couldn’t really get too cross because for starters in order to get cross I’d have had to get out of bed, and as soon as he did see the time he sat quietly watching tv until 7am.

Secondly some ebay buyer is messing me around and doesn’t want to complete their transaction, which is just irritating in the extreme for a number of reasons.

And NOW. Now. I have been playing this silly game called MySims on the wii for a few weeks, and was going to complete it today – complete as in have collected all the UberSims and maxed out the town in the various ways you can do it. Anyway, the daft game developed a bug at the last minute, and wouldn’t let me move the last UberSim in. Or move any other Sim in for that matter, it had one Sim stuck in its memory and wouldn’t even move that one in. So I gave up, which I probably should have done weeks ago, it must be the most boring game on the planet, I really don’t recommend it – only people with ocd like me will get a kick out of completing boring tasks just for the sake of collecting everything and ticking all the boxes. But even I’m not OCD enough to start again from scratch.

Guess I’ll have to do some housework instead. I’m waiting in for some shelves to arrive today, and it has seemed futile to do much cleaning until they’re here, as when they are set up I am planning a major re-organisation of books and stuff around the whole house, which will create loads of mess, which I’ll have to clear up after, so there really isn’t any point clearing up beforehand, is there?

Following a bit of a trend and with the greatest of thanks to my technical assistant, WP is upgraded here too … new tarski theme installed, which I will be fiddling with all evening – joy

Update
I have the part of tarski that I wanted working now, even if I did have to delete a whole section of code to sort it out (not exactly the best way to sort it but it’s done the job), and that’s the tag cloud. I just love looking at it! And of course now I have to go back through my 1600 odd posts to tag them all, which appeals greatly to my ocd tendencies. As if I didn’t have enough to do with consolidating my acww catalogue

Can’t sort the picture just yet so the colours/piccie at the top might take longer to sort out – and I think I (and therefore you ) just have to live with it for a while before making any more theme changes
