And in other news this week …

When we haven’t been at Holiday Club, we have been doing various things at home – playing with friends, getting haircuts and new trousers for children who had grown out of them, some music lessons, painting pots and making cards … and vaguely thinking about going away again next week!

We celebrated Grandma’s birthday with a great pizza party at their house. The hot chocolate fudge cake was pretty good too :)

And today Aunty Emma took all the children over to Adam’s paintballing site for the afternoon, which they (and I ;) ) really enjoyed, then Em and Robyn stayed for tea afterwards.

I shot Spongebob Squarepants!

My first day of jury service was fairly noneventful; I turned up at the court at the appointed time and did all the intro stuff – watched a video about the whole ‘being a juror’ process, and sat around listening to lots of associated blurb. Didn’t get picked for the jury in waiting, sat around reading a book for about an hour, and eventually got told to go home and phone in later to find out about the rest of the week. Don’t have to go in tomorrow either, but again have to phone in tomorrow to find out about the next day.

So I ended up back at the garage with Steve by lunchtime, and Emma dropped Josiah back to me there. He’d had a fab time and greeted me with ‘I shot Spongebob Squarepants!’ Emma’s husband Adam, since coming out of the army in May, has got involved in setting up a new paintballing facility at a nearby holiday park, so she’d taken Josiah down there for the morning. Joe had apparently shot 60 pellets (I’ve never done it so don’t really have a clue what he was talking about) and wasn’t bad at it! I think the targets are big posters of characters etc., hence the Spongebob reference. He said the guns were quite heavy, but obviously not too heavy for an almost 6yo to have a lot of fun :)
