I got a free upgrade phone … not that exciting really, probably one everyone else has had for ages but since the last time I upgraded I didn’t like the phone I chose and went back to using my old nokia 6100 (which I’ve had for almost three years) it feels like a big jump for me!

Took Robyn and Joe to Crealy today so that was a chance to try out the camera. I wish I had got a photo of Robyn begging to be allowed on the Pirate Ship instead of the little rocker I was trying to put her on (), or the ducks that mobbed us when we started throwing bread to them, but I didn’t. Don’t think the quality is *too* bad for a cameraphone.

Sleepy babe

Another quiet day here, the highlight of which was Robyn walking through the door at 9am! Well, not quite walking, Grandma was carrying her, but nevertheless, it was a surprise to see her and a lovely one :) Nice that she feels able to make herself at home in our house too :)

Went into work for our Monday morning meeting, then came home and had coffee with everyone who was here by then, very pleasant. Uncle Adam and Aunty Em took Abigail away with them just before lunch and are returning her after tea, hence the quietness.

Mollie has been around or Joe’s been at Mollie’s for most of the day … Anna and I took the opportunity to do a bit of maths together, and some drawing, and mooching generally.

I am seriously procrastinating about the food shopping which needs doing before the weekend, wondering when will be the least chaotic time to hit the supermarket but there probably isn’t one, is there?!

Aunty Me

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Not only did the children enjoy seeing their new cousin today, I really enjoyed doing the aunty thing. I had loads of cuddles with Robyn, she obligingly fell asleep on me a couple of times including during dinner, and I even changed her dirty nappy – something I always used to try and get out of with my own babies, if Steve was around (I maintain he was better at folding a terry than me!). Definitely could have another baby, she was gorgeous :) But Steve’s comment when he saw Robyn yesterday was that babies are boring, he likes them better when they can talk. And as I like them best before they get too much of a mind of their own I think we’ll have to agree to stick with the three we’ve got. And, as I realised today, between Steve and I we have plenty of potential for more nieces and nephews so I’ll have to be content with long cuddles with them instead. It won’t stop me being broody at times like these when everyone’s popping sprogs though – saw a beautiful set of tiny baby twins this morning – their mum went into labour at the swimming pool 6 weeks ago and has been given a free private swimming lesson for the pleasure!

Anyway, photos:

And just have to include this one for comedy value; as we were leaving Uncle Adam was holding Abbie upside-down, and Anna happened to have the camera in her hand. Abbie’s been wearing this psychedelic pink outfit today which I’ve told her would be a good one for all week at hesfes, at least I’ll be able to find her in that – think she’s grown out of that orange dress, anyone want it?! ;)

Abigail is definitely going to get to go with Grandma and stay with Emma next week, which she was quietly thrilled to find out about … and Anna was loudly cheesed off, but there we go!

Babies

Saturday, April 16th, 2005

Lots of babies due at the moment, in fact Steve’s sister is in labour as I write, so I’m thinking of her today – more news later hopefully! Her due date was tomorrow so I know she’ll be over the moon not to have gone overdue. She’s having her first baby, at home, so pray that all goes well :)

And so because I’m procrastinating (do some things ever change?) and to give Nic something else in the sidebar to click on, I’ve added my birth stories to the ‘Pages’ section in the sidebar. They were on our family site but it’s broken at the moment.

Of course the other reason for all this baby thinking going on is that I’ve been working on Miscarriage stuff this week, a couple of people at swimming this morning had heard me on the radio yesterday and mentioned it all to me, and I guess it just brings all the remembering to the fore again – which is fine (no hugs please!), in fact I think one of the strengths of having something significant to do once a year is good as it brings you to a place where it is okay to remember things, and then the rest of the year you (well, I, now) don’t really think about it as much. Anyway, I need to carry on with the display stuff as I didn’t get much done yesterday due to printer problems, so I’m off …

UPDATE!
Emma had her baby, a girl called Robyn, at 13.37 :) 7lbs 15.5oz, home birth went swimmingly :D :D Congratulations!
